So how do you obtain the coveted “WINGS” through PAL Aviation School?  We offer the following programs/courses: the Ab-Initio Training and the Modular Trainings.

I. Ab-Initio Training

The Ab-Initio Training is a pre-set training.  This type of training is ideal for full time students as this type of training is done by batching system. 

The first phase of training is the Private Pilot Training while the second phase of training is the Commercial Pilot Training with Instrument Rating.  Both include classroom, simulator and flight training.

Private Pilot Training

A. Classroom Training (255+00 hours)

This phase of training introduces the students to complete and concise explanations of the fundamental concepts and ideas of flying.

B. Simulator Training (10+00 hours)

During this phase the students will undergo training in CAAP certified type simulator or flight training device (FTD).

Having studied each navigational techniques and procedures separately during the ground school phase, the student is exposed to study the integration of these navigational techniques and procedures in the synthetic trainer.

For the private pilot training, the student will undergo Basic Instrument Procedure Flying.

C. Flight Training (54+30 hours)

1.    Pre-solo phase
This phase enhances student’s aeronautical knowledge and skills to a level that will prepare him/her to safely conduct his/her first solo flight.

2.    Basic Contact Proficiency Phase
Phase that will enhance/develop the student’s ability to safely and accurately perform the maneuvers required to qualify for a CAAP Private Pilot License. After completion of 35 hour, performance review check ride of the student will be conducted by the Chief Flight Instructor or his designated Check Instructor Pilot. 

3.    PPL Cross Country Flight Training Phase
In this phase, the student’s aeronautical knowledge and skills in conducting cross-country flights using pilotage, dead reckoning and radio navigational aids under Visual Flight Rules (VFR) will be developed.

4.   The flight training also includes reviews to enhance trainee’s ability to safely and accurately perform the maneuvers required to obtain a CAAP Private Pilot License.

Commercial Pilot Training with Instrument Rating

A. Classroom Training (199+00 hours)

These include broader and extensive explanations of the advance concepts and ideas that every professional pilot needs to know.

B. Simulator Training (20+00 hours)

For the commercial pilot training, the student will undergo Advanced Instrument Procedure Flying.

C. Flight Training (163+00 hours)

1.    Advance Contact Proficiency Phase
This phase introduces and develops the student’s skills in performing Commercial Pilot maneuvers and demonstrating increased skills in performing Private Pilot maneuvers. On the 80th hour, performance review check of the student will be conducted by the Chief Flight Instructor or a designated Check Instructor Pilot.

2.    Basic Instrument Phase
This phase introduces and develops student’s skills in instrument flying. It also introduces the students to the use of hood to fly and navigate an airplane with reference to airplane instruments.

3.    Commercial Pilot – Cross Country Flight Training Phase
Enhances the student’s aeronautical knowledge and skills in cross-country flying, using pilotage, dead reckoning and radio navigation procedures.

4.    Advance Instrument Phase
Phase in which students will practice and enhance their skills to conduct flight in Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) including the use of charts and radio navigations. This phase also includes night flying.

5.    CPL Solo Cross Country Flight Training Phase
In this phase, the students will gain experience in cross country flight operations by conducting a solo cross country flight using pilotage, dead reckoning and radio navigation procedures.

6.    Final Contact Proficiency Flight Training Phase
This phase includes reviews to enhance student’s ability to safely and accurately perform the maneuvers required to obtain a CAAP Commercial Pilot License.      


Requirements for Ab-Initio Training Applicants




WE ARE CONTINUOUSLY ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR THE AB-INITIO CLASSES.


A.        Documentary Requirements

Ab-initio Pilot Trainee Applicant must submit photocopies of the following documents to the Office of the Manager-Aviation School located at PAL Gate 3, Andrews Avenue, Nichols, Pasay City:

  • NSO Certified Birth Certificate
  • College Diploma. If College Diploma is not available, applicant must secure a certification from the School or University where he/she has attended his/her college education attesting that said applicant is a graduate of such a degree and that his/her diploma is still in process or still at CHED.
  • Transcript of Records. If applicant could not immediately submit his/her transcript of records, a certification from the School or University can initially serve the purpose.
  • Resume with 2x2” picture with red background

B.        Screening of Documents

Documents are screened based on the following minimum requirements:

  • Applicant must not be more than 30 years of age at the start of the training  
  • Graduate of any four year college course leading to a  Bachelor’s Degree with good scholastic standing  
  • At least 5’4” in height

C.         Selection Process

Pilot Trainee Applicants who passed the documentary screening shall go through a selection process:
  • Impact Interview
  • Initial Medical Exam
  • Psychomotor Exam
  • Psychological Exam
  • Final Medical Exam

All successful Pilot Trainee Applicants who passed all the selection process stages shall have to undergo the ranking process.  Pilot Trainee Applicants who are included in the batch will be advised of the next steps in the admission process through a briefing.
